Each month, the Google Global Market Insights team analyzes data sets of billions of recent search queries and consumer behaviors to develop a deep understanding of key market trends.
This month, we learned that 70% of consumers across surveyed countries say they are concerned about the rising cost of the items they need or want to buy.1 And we see that in their searches for affordable essentials (“cheap food near me”) and budgeting for nonessentials, such as travel (“cheapest countries to visit,” “cheap flight tickets”) and celebrations (“party finger food ideas budget”).2
As well as planning graduation and birthday parties, people are getting ready for summer by researching “water park ticket” and “places to visit in summer,” while looking for flip-flops and sundresses. And people are increasingly interested in electric vehicles, with searches for “electric truck,” “best electric cars,” “electric cars for sale,” “electric bike price,” and “cheapest electric car,” all growing year-over-year.3
