Each month, the Google Market Insights team analyzes data sets of billions of recent search queries and consumer behaviors to develop a deep understanding of key market trends.
In the past month, we’ve seen a global disruption in consumer behavior, as people deal with many crises at once, including inflation and a potential recession. Beyond seeking ways to cut costs, such as by searching “buy 1 get 1” and “promo code for existing user,” consumers are also looking to expand their financial literacy by exploring “credit card benefits” and “best shares to buy today.”
Additionally, we have seen people turning to Google to inform their purchases before spending, as in queries for “best gas mileage,” “prices go down,” and “good time to buy.” Meanwhile, the shift to omnichannel is growing. Online and offline shopping searches, like “online shopping dresses,” “delivery partner app,” “shopping centers,” and “store open,” both continue to climb.1
