There’s always that subset of holiday shoppers who are tactical about crossing off everyone from their lists early. But the vast majority of U.S. holiday shoppers still have plenty of work to do heading into the 2019 Black Friday-Cyber Monday (BFCM) weekend, with people saying they’ve only completed 26% of their shopping.1
In fact, we know that 33% of purchases yet to be made are because the shopper is waiting for a sale.2 And these deal-loving shoppers are preparing for those sales by diving into search. What are they searching for? In addition to sharing our real-time holiday shopping trends, we’re taking a look at items rising in search to help you better anticipate what people want this season.
While BFCM is often known for big electronics sales, the biggest category people are shopping for so far is clothing, apparel, and footwear, with 53% of shoppers saying they shopped for those items in the past 48 hours, compared to 29% of shoppers who looked for electronics. Other high-performing categories: toys and games (36%), household items (21%), and personal care and cosmetics (20%).3
